We are changing switch service providers and replacing our ATM. Switch services provide the communication between the point of use of your MemberCard and the banking system. This change is due to the MemberCard issues experienced since October 2006. Working with this new switch service provider will provide us with an opportunity to develop and enhance current and future products and services. We feel this provider has the ability to be adaptable and flexible in order to accommodate our unique circumstances and workflow.
All MemberCard activity will be unavailable from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. Monday January 28, 2008. Your MemberCard will not work during this time. Please make alternate arrangements.
The ATM at the branch will be unavailable on Monday January 28, 2008 for approximately 48 hours. A new one is being installed. If a deposit is required during this time, you may place it in the Night Deposit which is located to the left of the ATM and a staff member will process your deposit the next business day.
If you would like to be notified by text message or email when services are restored, please contact the branch to be added to the notification list. If you currently subscribe to our MemberNote product, you will be notified via your MemberNote address. Your address can be updated or changed at any time through MemberDirect (internet banking). We will be updating this blog throughout the day.
We are sorry for any inconvenience these changes may cause. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact the branch at 604.856.7761.

Since Sunday we have had nothing but problems with our switch provider, Open Solutions. The switch is what controls the electronic transactions that are created when members use their MemberCard. When the switch doesn’t work anything you do with the card is affected. We have sent out e-mail messages, text messages and answered the telephones for the past two days trying to help in anyway we can. But we are held hostage by the inability of our outside supplier to make this work. This has been happening too many times and we have decided to move to another supplier Threshold early next year. We thank you for your patience. Please call us at anytime if we can offer assistance in anyway. We have been told it will be fixed shortly.

Yesterday we celebrated, in typical fashion with a BBQ, International Credit Union Day at the credit union. We have been having this event for a number of years now. This year at least 180 people showed up in the pouring rain. It rained all day. We had a lot of fun. Thanks to everyone who made this such an enjoyable day!
We’ve posted a video on YouTube for you to see.

We have our staff meeting tomorrow morning and will be talking about what we need to prepare for Thursday. Kelly will be the video camera operator, getting footage of the days events and asking our members a few questions. There is the food to buy and prepare, the BBQ to setup, the tent guys to get the tent up and our president who cooks every single burger. We hear that a certain person from an advertising agency and camera person are coming by on Thursday to film some of the event. We’re hoping others (read credit unions) take the challenge and celebrate by sharing the event through the internet. See you Thursday!

Credit Union Day Thursday October 18, 2007
MLCU will celebrate our national Credit Union Day with a BBQ on the patio from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Everyone is welcome!
Credit Union Day is designated as the third Thursday of October each year. Co-op Week is celebrated during the week in which Credit Union Day falls. It is the opportunity for Canadian co-operative & credit union members to celebrate that they have collectively helped to build this country & to recognize their continuing contributions at home and abroad.
